Calcium Carbonate
Construction
Engineered fillers for mortars, sealants, coatings, and concrete systems.
In construction chemistry, calcium carbonate does structural work: it controls rheology in adhesives and sealants, builds dry film in coatings, regulates water demand in dry-mix mortars, and replaces clinker in blended cement systems. Particle shape, size distribution, and surface chemistry decide the outcome.
Omya Idwala mines and processes South African marble and limestone deposits into ground calcium carbonate grades for the local construction value chain — backed by the formulation know-how of the global Omya technical network.
Where our construction grades work
Dry-Mix Mortars
Graded fillers for tile adhesives, skim coats, and self-levelling screeds. Controlled water demand, improved workability, consistent setting behaviour.
Adhesives & Sealants
Fine coated and uncoated grades for silicone, PU, and acrylic sealants. Rheology control, paste stability, and cost-effective volume filling.
Cement & Concrete
Limestone filler for blended cements and self-compacting concrete. Lower clinker factor, reduced CO₂ intensity, improved particle packing.
Plasters & Decorative Coatings
Bright, low-oil-absorption fillers for interior plasters and textured wall coatings. High brightness base for strong tinting economy.
